Pair of 19th Century English Walnut Veneered Chests with Brushing Slides
$12,600
A refined pair of 19th century English chests of drawers, each constructed with a pull-out brushing slide above a drawer configuration designed in the traditional two-over-two format. The upper drawer is a single long drawer skillfully divided on the façade to appear as two smaller drawers, maintaining visual symmetry while maximizing storage capacity.
Below, two full-width graduated drawers provide additional storage. The tops feature figured veneer panels framed with crossbanding and gently rounded front edges. Brass bail pulls with shaped backplates complement the warm walnut tones.
Raised on plinth bases with shaped apron cutouts, the proportions are compact yet substantial. The brushing slides add both functionality and period authenticity — a detail strongly associated with mid-19th century English cabinetry.
Versatile in scale, they may function as small chests, bedside cabinets, or flanking pieces within a traditional interior.
