English 19th Century Mahogany Side Cabinet with Scalloped Gallery, Tambour Doors
$3,750
An English mahogany side cabinet dating to the 19th century, crafted with a focus on both utility and elegance. The rectangular form is topped by softly scalloped gallery edges, giving a gentle decorative profile, while shaped carrying handles are cut into each side panel for easy relocation. The front is fitted with twin tambour doors, each with fine vertical reeding, which glide open to reveal an enclosed storage space well suited for books, documents, or small household necessities.
The cabinet stands on straight, slender legs, offering a light, elevated presence that complements its compact size. Its warm mahogany surface displays a deep, mellow patina, the result of decades of use and careful preservation, with the grain subtly enhanced by the aged finish. Suitable for use beside a reading chair, in a bedroom, or as a discrete storage piece in an entrance hall, this cabinet offers a harmonious blend of decorative appeal and practicality. It reflects the restrained style and fine joinery typical of English furniture from the period.
